The Foot Fist Way

Perfect!

Perfect!

Danny McBride. Enough said really, but I’ll go into detail. The Foot Fist Way is a comedy starring Danny McBride and directed by Jody Hill about a Tae Kwon Do instructor who is a bit ego-maniacal and extremely self-appreciating. Everything seems to be going well for Fred Simmons (McBride). He’s got a strip-mall Tae Kwon Do studio and lots of students who look up to him. But it all goes awry when he finds out his wife cheated on him. Craziness ensues as Fred picks up the pieces and tries to put them back together again the only way he knows how; by throwing himself into his work. This takes him on the journey of going to see his “best hero”, Chuck “The Truck” Wallace, who turns out to be a severe douche bag. Just watch it because you will not be dissapointed.

Pride and Glory

Great

Great

Let me just start off by saying how much I love cop drama/action flicks. I went into this movie without any real expectations except for the fact that Collin Ferrel and Edward Norton have got to be two of my favorite actors in the biz.

Overview
Pride and Glory is a movie about a family of cops (Ferrel’s character is married into the family as a cop) that take pride in their history. The head of the family, played by the great Jon Voight, is a 30-year veteran of the force. The whole shabang gets started off when four of their own are killed in what looks to be a bust gone wrong. In light of this tragedy, Voight asks his son,Norton’s character to get back on the task force and help solve the case. After a little prodding it works and Ed’s ready. However, the deeper he digs questions begin popping up that just do not make sense. Eventually, he uncovers police corruption and gets stuck between a rock and a hard place with what he should do.

Perfect!

Perfect!

Okay, so I loved this freaking movie! I honestly need to go see it again, or find it on PirateBay.org. James Franco stole the show man. I really thought he was sort of a tool based on previous flicks. I liked Spider-Man, but he still seemed like a flake. With this movie, Franco got a whole reinvention of himself as far as I was concerned. I loved every second he was on screen. All I could think in my head when he was saying something was, “it’s so true man!” And it is!

So that is a very short review, but I don’t know what else there is to say other than that you need to GO SEE THE MOVIE!

The Dark Knight

Perfect!

Perfect!

The Dark Knight is the follow-up to the amazing film Batman Begins. It takes place roughly a year after the end of the previous film. Christian Bale is once again brilliant in his reprisal of the role of Bruce Wayne and the Batman, as well as Aaron Eckhart who plays “the white knight” of Gotham, Harvey Dent. But the real star of the movie is the late Heath Ledger asĀ  the Joker. Scary isn’t really the right word; insane is more suitable for his performance. It’s amazing that the same guy that played the loner bad-boy high school kid from “10 Things I Hate About You” could become the maniacal and completely interesting Joker. When I first heard that he was cast for the part a year or two ago, all of my friends thought this was a terrible idea. But I know Christopher Nolan has an ability to see someone’s potential as an actor and not just their resumeĀ“. I trusted him all the way and I am vindicated by this amazing flick.

Almost making a nod to films like The Empire Strikes back, this film takes an even darker turn from the first. The dusty gold and brown hues from the first film are replaced with a dark and blueish feel. Action and fast paced from the beginning this just feels right for any Batman fan-boy. This is the Batman and Joker flick we’ve been waiting for. It’s absolutely perfect in every capacity. If you were to strip the whole “Batman” theme from it, The Dark Knight stands alone as a charismatic suspense-thriller, with twists and turns, and a plot that keeps you on the edge of your seat until the credits roll. And even then you wait hoping to get a glimpse of something more. Sadly, this didn’t happen. But I’ve seen the film twice now, and plan on finally going to see it at the IMAX. You must see this movie.
