Fable 2

my rating: 9.5 out of 10

This has got to be on of the most addicting RPGs on the 360. My wife and I both have been playing for weeks now and there’s just still stuff to find, quests to complete, jobs to do, and people to kill. To date, and I’m including Halo on this, Fable 2 is one of my favorite games on this console.

Overview
Fable is an RPG/Action-Adventure game that delivers everything it promised. You start of as a young boy, and even at that age you get to decide which way you lean; toward the good or toward evil. I of course took the evil route simply because it’s always more fun. Basically you have three set of leveling up you can do, Strength, Skill, and Will. Strength includes Physique which build your muscles physically in appearance as well as the amount of damage dealt with each blow of your melee weapon. Next you have Toughness that

The day I bought my Playstation 3 I was extremely excited. Then I found myself months later not having turned the thing on almost since I bought it…until now. MGS4 has not only met but has exceeded my every expectation. This is the reason to own a PS3. Gameplay is as sweet and loaded with calories as a deep-fried snickers bar from the Texas State Fair. From the moment you turn it on you feel as if you’re really part of the story. I know that’s cliche´ to say, but the truth is simply that. Now I love Halo, and I certainly can’t get enough of the Tom Clancy franchise. However, Metal Gear Solid 4 has redefined my reason for gaming in the first place. The story is so cool and engaging that you sometimes forget your a slob sitting on a couch playing a game instead of a rogue agent kicking some serious butt. Fans of the series won’t be dissapointed, and as convoluted as the Metal Gear story can be, first-timers will pick it right up and be in the know.

I loved this game. It’s sad how little variety you get with the PS3 but this is a must play. The first time I played it I was in awe of the story telling and incredible visuals. Once I was finished I had to go back and play “Hell Mode” which was still absolutely enjoyable.

As far as a sword fighting action game goes this is by far one of my favorites. Cool “magical” moves once you invoke the power of the heavenly sword makes the sometimes repetitious game play worth it. I gotta tell you, shooting an arrow from a cross-bow and then using the sixaxis controls to guide it into an enemies eyeball is pretty satisfying

The boss battles each had their own unique style and reminded me a bit of Mortal Kombat. Well voice acted and not “campy” the battles and cut-scenes were great.

All in all it was a terrific game. I’ve always heard that you should walk off a stage with the audience wanting more rather than overstay your welcome. And while Heavenly Sword was a bit short, it left me longing to wield it again!

pros: stunning visuals, excellent sound; both music and effects, killer special moves, and good story telling
cons: a bit lost in the last boss battle, but that’s probably just me. The sixaxis controls had a bit of a learning curve
replay value: Medium-high

This is the first game I’ve played on the Playstation 3. It is marvelous. Though it doesn’t exactly blow the Halo series out of the water, it is a fun play.

I think one of the main reasons I liked this game so much is because I wasn’t sure what to expect since it was developed by Insomniac Games who of course are responsible for the whole ‘Ratchet & Clank’ universe which is very dear to my heart. It’s just that R&C is a platformer as well as cartoony and very stylized, where Resistance is a FPS and has an extremely darker tone. Overall I was very satisfied with the whole package. AI was decent, the enemies were fierce and unique and the weapons were very cool with that futuristic twist on a WWII setting.

My only beef was the plot. Basically I don’t know who I am, and why I’m doing what I’m doing. During the cut-scenes all I got was a monologue of some creepy British chick giving splotchy plot points at best. It was kind of like watching a movie with a weird and/or confusing plot, but you don’t care because the action and the visuals are so freakin’ cool.

pros: Great creature design. Nice dark tone for Insomniac. Decent sound and relatively unique levels.
cons: Confusing plot.
replay value: Medium
